Finders Keepers is a term used, often humorously, to assert that whoever finds something by chance is entitled to keep it.
Although most people know this idiom as a children's rhyme (Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers), it is quite old. Sources put the earliest written uses of this general expression at 200 B.C., by the Roman playwright Plautus.
