Seller's notes about Aptronyms.com
An aptronym is an apt name.
Merriam Webster:
"An aptronym is a name that suits its owner in an apt way." - https://w3n.us/aptronym
It's slang, but its popularity is growing since the 1950's.
An aptronym reflects both real & fictitious names such as "Mr. Taylor" or "Mr. Gardner" which reflect a person's occupation, as well as humorous names such as when a nickname or alias such as "Mr. Talksalot" or "Mr. Big" is teased.
Apparently, the word aptronym appeared in Funk & Wagnall’s dictionary as early as 1921, referring to names of trades/professions derived from their product/service.
Merriam Webster says it's possible aptronym may have been coined by the American journalist Franklin P. Adams.
Aptronym has garnered favor over its older synonym, 'euonym', and I think that the word aptronyms lends itself well to the practice of branding company names, domains, and although not in every case, it can stand in as a pseudonym (a pen name) or an eponym (a name derivative).
Other possible uses would include (but not be limited to) baby names lookup, or a heritage database based on surname lookup (& advertise DNA sequencing kits).
A variant spelling is 'aptonym'. Let me know if you want both plural spellings and we can do a package deal. This is the correct spelling. aptonyms.com redirects traffic to aptronyms.com
